Recently I noticed that there are a ton of videos on YouTube showing how you can use a key bind to open a menu that gives you options to shut down, restart, etc.
But what if you want your PC to shut down instantly after pressing a certain key-bind? That’s what I’ll be showing in this article.
Step 1 — Create a Shortcut
Right-click on your desktop, and select New > Shortcut. In the “location” field, type in shutdown /s /t 0.
Hit next, name the shortcut, and then click finish.
Step 2— Assign a Keyboard Shortcut
Right-click on the shortcut you just made (on the desktop), and select properties. In the shortcut tab, click on the Shortcut key field.
Here, you can type in whatever key you want to use to instantly shut down your PC. Unfortunately, it requires you to use command+alt along with your key of choice. Once that’s done, click OK.
And that’s it! Anytime you press your keybind or double-click on that shortcut, your PC will immediately turn off. Hope this helps!
